First draft ~ essay writting

Globalization has many different definitions and meanings, it depends on the point of view the person is looking at it from. For example, it affects some people positively so they think of it as very useful, good and helpful but others think of it negatively by saying that it damages the people, society and environment. Recently, I have read that globalization has brought the people a lot closer to each other than before and it means; having information, goods, services and money transferred to other countries in a quick and cheap way, it is a revolution in communication that changed people’s lives ever since. The forces of globalization have a lot of impacts on the world, many aspects helped unite the world and bring it together, but others caused a lot of division in the world.

Globalization connected the world together by its forces; it brought the countries closer and united them in a lot of ways. First of all, as globalization was mentioned in Elwood’s book No-Nonsense guide to Globalization, Britain and the U.S’s philosophy was that corporations were allowed to move businesses anywhere in the world in order to higher their profits and in the same way lower their costs. So that lead companies and investment dealers that had been constrained by national boundaries to go global and that helped business to go around the world and become universal to provide us with many different good nowadays. Secondly, the revolution of technology has really connected the universe in a huge way, according to the PEW internet survey a lot of people all around the world stay connected to each other by the online communities and the most used sites are facebook and hi5, their sites that allow people to keep in touch with others by a click of a mouse. Technology has really spread all over the world so fast, and people are getting more and more use out of it every day, from the reading (the mobile miracle) we see that based on studies conducted India for the first time had seven million Indians subscribe to new mobile phones, so it shows us that the majority of people are using technology all over the world and that what brings them together and unites them. Another factor is how globalization united the nations to try and have better healthcare and medical centers. From the reading ( outsourcing your heart ) by kher,U we can see that Singapore, India and Thailand are countries that offer cheaper medical treatments, and that helps the people all around the world to heal so it’s a destination of a lot of sick people. Moreover, as Ezz Al Deen, M says in his article the UAE is planning to attract a huge number of medical tourists to it, there are noticeable efforts that show all the work they put in this plan just like developing the health sector and building new communities to attract the tourists, so that it can be globally advertised that it’s a good destination for medical care.

The division of the world was mainly caused by the forces of globalization; it had a lot of bad effects on the universe that slowly divided the world. It is meaningful to note that five centuries ago Christopher Columbus accidently found the islands of the Caribbean, and twenty years after that globalization moved rapidly from being an innocent process of cross-cultural exchange to a vicious scramble for wealth and power. Therefore, a lot of people died from European diseases or being over-worked. Talking about technology it is very useful but in the same time its causing a lot of damage around the world and it’s a challenge that we have to face, from the reading { the electronic gap ) that was edited by Kennedy, p, he focuses on the electronic gap that has increased a lot in the past few years, and were in the middle of the technology revolution and it has widened the gap between rich and poor countries, and that is unacceptable because if we allow this happening, rich countries will grow richer and the poor countries will fall behind and “ that will lead to widespread discontent and threaten any prospect of global harmony and international understanding “ as Kennedy, p says. Another important aspect that we should be aware of is that globalization deleting the old national cultural boundaries and damaging the cultural identity of a country, people are forgetting their traditions and culture and getting affected and influenced easily by others. For instance, from the article “ the heart of Japan” written by Eri Yoshida, we can see that after the Asian clothing styles have entered Japan, people stopped wearing their traditional custom “ kimono “ that often and started to wear jeans because its comfortable and affordable. Not only that but also the figures show that jeans sales are rising when kimono sales are decreasing. Another example mentioned by Yeunhwa Jang from Koreans the American fast-food that has spread over the recent years and affected the Koreans cooking, they started using American spices in their traditional food, and that will cause a loss in the societies traditional believes.

To sum up, globalization is a power that can affect the world and human nation massively, there are positive and negative factors that come with it. Moreover, it can unite people by exchanging goods and services; it also helps shrink the distances between the countries. On the other hand, it can have a huge part in dividing the world and making it a dangerous place to live, people are getting heavily affected by it and it makes them grow distances from each other and get separated.
